Description
This instrument for measuring electrical current was originally used at the Cavendish Laboratory of Experimental Physics in the 1880s.

It was purchased by Lord Rayleigh, the second Cavendish Professor, for £8 (about £600 in 2024) from the fledgling Cambridge Scientific Instruments Company, and was one of the first instruments CSIC produced.
