Moving magnet, reflecting galvanometer (aka ‘Paschen galvanometer’), by Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company, English, 1914.
Circular brass base with four pairs of brass terminals mounted on two curved ebonite plates (front and back, upper and lower coils); three brass levelling feet; stepped-diameter brass cylindrical cover; inner suspension tube of glass; front and back pairs of coils slide away/toward suspended magnet system, which consists of two groups of thirteen magnets, arranged alternatively on opposite sides of a glass rod; a mirror is fixed midway between the magnet groups.
Condition: fine; incomplete (suspended system missing).

Designed to measure small changes in electric current extremely accurately, this instrument cost £33 in 1914, equivalent to several thousand pounds in today’s money.
