Description Notes
‘Duddell-Mather’ electrodynamic, pointer wattmeter, by R. W. Paul, English, c. 1902.
In cylindrical glass case, with wooden base, and wood and ebonite top; two bubble levels and three ivory levelling screws on base; ivory clamping screw at bottom of cylindrical case; circular ebonite plate at top with scale, 0 to 100 divisions, supports suspension of coils and rotates full 360 degrees; two pairs of fixed coils mounted on ebonite standards; two suspended coils, supported on mica vane, extend into centres of fixed coils; extensions of mica vane on either side act as pointers and provide damping; thermometer on top; a wrapped bundle of insulated wires (20 for current, 2 for voltage) approxiamately one metre long leaves from the base of the instrument to the separate ‘Plug Commutator’, In wooden box, with hinged door and metal carrying handle.
Condition: fair (suspension intact); incomplete (wiring cut, commutator incomplete).
