Description Notes

The Light Box - rectangular in shape, metal casing, black. The light box has a collimating lens which is adjustable to form the emerging light in to a parallel beam. The rear of the box is fitted with two hinged mirrors (at sides) which are used to reflect the light emerging from the side apertures. The front, sides and rear all have slide holders. The light source is a bulb at the rear of the box held vertically in place by a fitting covered with a rubber insulator from which a dual wire runs splitting at the end in to two points (metal prongs). On the base and the top is the inscription above in raised lettering.

The Optical Set is comprised of coloured card squares (6), coloured slides of blocks of colour (7), a glass slide with blue tape in two horizontal strips the middle being left clear. These are all the same size and fit the holders on the light box. 8 perspex shapes with 10mm cylindrical protusions from one surface (to enable picking up). These shapes are placed in front of the light box to refract and reflect the light. 2 plastic slit formers placed in front of the light box to break the light into a variety of rays/beams. 2 u bend plastic mirror coated items. 1 mirror mounted on a metal L shaped stand. The optical set appears to be in its original box.

In addition there are 2 KODAK Gelatin slides 3 inch square one blue, one green that appear to have been purchased separately.

The instruction booklet “GRIFFIN” “LIGHT BOX AND OPTICAL SET” “I.S. 1463’7101”. INTRODUCES THE SET AND THEN PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CARRY OUT A VARIETY OF EXPERIMENTS. YELLOW COVER, list of sales and distribution points in the UK on the back.
