Description Notes
Force on a conductor balance. Rectangular plastic base, the front has above inscription. At the left of the base a cylindrical rod runs from front to back. Attached to this is a magnetic block comprised of 5 horse shoe shaped magnets (curve on base board), held in place by a metal housing and screws. In to the horse shoe shaped gap between the magnets is placed a shaped wire frame that is suspended/ able to move. To prevent its release 4 metal bars are placed on the ends of the magnets (stamped “MADE IN ENGLAND”). At the base of the magnetic block is a scale 0 to 50 from front to back. A second scale runs right to left 10 to 70 along the back of the base, this however is at the height of the suspended wire frame. Measurement of force is achieved by a brass barrel attached to the wire moving through vibration along the wire and therefore along the scale. The wire frame is suspended by a block with counter balance weights from two upright poles on the right of the board. These metal poles have openings for the application of current/force conduction.
Condition good; complete.
