Description Notes

Waterclours in brown and green of whole plant of Thuja tartarica.
Left is a mature plant, with three leaves.
Right is a middle stage, with two developing leaves.
Centre is growing plant, no leaves, bent over to right.
‘c’ at top, above the middle diagram, between the tops of the other two.
‘R’ towards bottom, between middle and right diagrams.
Title runs up left side.
Handwritten notation in bottom centre gives species name and is signed by Henslow.
Ref number bottom right.
Compare accession numbers 4930 and 4931.
Cloth backing has blue stamped text on left side, in reverse (ie to be read from paper side): ‘CREWDSON & Co’s manufacture [circular shield, with ‘crewdson & co. manchester’ aroud it], THE CREWDSON CRYSTAL R10’ This starts to repeat again below.
