Description Notes

Seven colour pictures on a black background (inside a white frame) of parts of the clove plant Carophyllus aromaticus L.
Main diagram is a picture of the upper part of the plant ie stem, leaves, flowers, twice life size.
Around it are six numbered diagrams:
1. (bottom right) cross section through stigma and anthers, with parts labelled with letters.
2. (top right) young flower (?) ‘Blumenkrone’ - looks like petals layered over into a covering.
3. (mid right) view of whole stigma
4. (bottom left) whole anther
5. (bottom left) dried clove
6. (top left) fruit
On the surrounding white frame at top is ‘Ausländische Kulturpflanzen in farbigen Wandtafeln‘.
On the white at bottom: immediately under black are the artist’s and publisher’s details; the next line is the species title; bottom line is key, both for numbered diagrams, and for the lettered parts of the stigma cross-section. (In German)
At top, on black ground, left ‘I. Abteilung.’, right ‘Tafel 8.’
Good condition.
