Line drawing of cross-section through stigma, ovary and anthers. Pollen grains marked in blue have landed on the stigma aurface, and their blue pollen tubes are growing towards the ovum (marked in red). One tube has reached the ovum. The left anther is an external view, the right is a cross-section.
Bottom right is a close-up of a pollen grain growing its tube.
