‘COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON THE GROWTH OF IMPATIENS PARVIFLORA D.C.’ (top)
Description Notes
Shows comparisons between a control group and five other groups, of Impatiens.
A key in the bottom right explains the data which were collected: (blue) G = relative growth rate; (red) E = mean rate of accumulation of dry weight per unit area of leaf; (green) R= ratio of the leaf area to the total dry weight; (pink) S=weight of unit area of leaf; (purple) T=time to reach 100 mg dry weight.
The results are given as +/- relative to the control group. In the centre is the control - no data are given, just the controlled variables (‘Plant of 100mg. total dry weight grown in a 16hr. day’).
Lines lead from the centre to the five comparison groups, for each of which +/- numbers are given for G, E, R, S and T. The groups are:
I. ‘24 hr day, same light intensity’
II. ‘8 hr day, same light intensity’
III. ‘Increase of light 15-36 cal./cm2 day’
IV. ‘Temperature rise 17.5-20.0oC.’
V. ‘Saturation deficit, Rise from 1.5 to 4.8mm’
Title in block capitals at top, other headings in sentence case, below data groups.
