Description Notes

The genus Layia:
Fourteen latin names, probably species names belonging to the genus, are arranged in a crescent from bottom left up to top centre, and back to bottom right.
Each name has a circle associated with it, inside which is another circle giving ‘n=’ for that name. Except for two circles in the bottom right, all the other circles are connected to each other along the crescent.
Lines (some thick, some thin) are drawn between pairs of circles, and each such line appears to be marked with a red inscription such as ‘O-2II’ or ‘5-6II’.
This diagram may be a representation of the relatedness of the different species in the genus Layia.
Title at top.
Ref number on reverse.
