Six colour pictures on a black background (inside a white frame) of parts of Swietenia.
Main diagram is a picture of the upper part of the plant ie stem, leaves, flowers.
Around it are five numbered diagrams, all bigger than life size:
1. (bottom centre) view of flower; ‘Blüte’
2. (top) view of stigma, with petals and anthers ‘unrolled’ to the left; ‘Die zu einer oben gezahnten Röhre verwachsenen Staubbeutel aufgerollt’
3. (bottom right) burst open seed capsule; ‘Die in Klappen aufgesprungene Kapsel’
4. (bottom left) seed carrier, with ‘a’ marking the point where the capsule grew; ‘Samenträger mit a) dem Punkt, wo er an die Kapsel gewachsen ist’
5. (centre left) seed; ‘Same’
On the surrounding white frame at top is ‘Ausländische Kulturpflanzen in farbigen Wandtafeln‘.
At top, on black ground, left ‘I. Abteilung.’, right ‘Tafel 21.’
On the white at bottom: immediately under black are the artist’s and publisher’s details; the next line is the species title; bottom line is key to the numbered diagrams, in German.
Good condition.
