Description Notes
Eight colour pictures on a black background (inside a white frame) of parts of the Thea.
Main picture is of upper part of plant ie stem, leaves, flowers, double lifesize.
It is surrounded by seven smaller pictures of parts of the flower and fruit.
1. (centre left) lifesize leaf; ‘Blatt in natürlicher Grösse.’
2. (bottom right) Assam tea leaf; ‘Assamesisches Theeblatt’
3. (top centre) calyx with style and stigma; ‘Kelch mit Pistill’
4. (top right) ovule with stigma, (calyx removed); ‘Fruchtknotem und Griffel mit dreispaltiger Narbe’
5. (centre right) anther; ‘Staubgefäss’
6. (top left) opened fruit; ‘Geöffnete Frucht’
7. (bottom left) seed, with part of the seed coat removed; ‘Same mit der Hälfte der Kernhülle’
On the surrounding white frame at top is ‘Ausländische Kulturpflanzen in farbigen Wandtafeln‘.
On the white at bottom: immediately under black are the artist’s and publisher’s details; the next line is the species title; bottom line is key for numbered diagrams, in German
