1. (top left) fungus is entering a plant cell, and growing more branches inside.
2. (main picture, centre) surface view of plant, with stoma in centre. Fungus is either growing into, or out of, the stoma.
3. (centre right) fungal spore
4. (top right) close-up of the area around the stoma. Two things are labelled ‘a’ and ‘b’.
5. (bottom left) view of fungus, with parts marked ‘Oog.’ and ‘Anth.’
6. (bottom right) a circular object inside a sac.
