Description Notes

Two printed line diagrams (numbered 1 and 2), with green chloroplasts and yellow cork growth.
Both diagrams show the same sub-cuticular cells, but the lower one (2) shows that cork has grown between the cells. The layers numbered 1 and 2 on diagram 1 have been separated by two layers of cork cells (labelled 3 and 4).
The layers of tissue are labelled on the right side as ‘P’, then two ‘Phellog.’
Species name is handpainted at the bottom.
Top right, to left of printed heading: embossed impression of coat of arms, surmounted with eagle, bearing motto ‘coll. christi cant’
