Description Notes
Six printed colour diagrams of flowers and flower parts, in the Salicaceæ.
1. and 2. (top left) show male and female flowers of Salix Caprea L.
3. and 4. (top centre, and right) show flower of Salix nigricans Sm. 3. is the whole flower, 4. is a greatly enlarged view of the flower with petals removed.
5. (bottom left) shows the flower of Populus alba L.
6. (bottom centre) shows the flower of Populus tremula.
Each diagram has a scale marked by it, as well as being numbered, and given its species name.
The species names of the two Populus flowers have been altered: a piece of tape obscures the original species name (i.e. the second name), and the revised species name is written beneath.
The name of ‘Newmann’ seems to be ink stamped onto the printed chart.
Chart has brass reinforced holes at the corners (to allow it to be hung by string).
Fair condition.
