Description Notes

Watercolours, in green and yellow, of shoots, sporangiphores, and spores of Selaginella.
Left and right seem to show different species, Subufolium and Willdenovi. The catalogue names them as Lycopodium subufolium and Selaginella Willdenovii.
Top left are two sets of aerial shoots, the lower ones slightly more opened.
Bottom left is a detail of part of the shoot, with some spores to its right.
The right diagrams (Willdenovii) again show aerial shoots, detail of cone, and spores.
Title at top, and across bottom. At top, the ‘Selaginella’ is on a separate paper that has been stuck on top of an earlier title.
Good condition.
