Description Notes

Dynamometer by H. Tinsley & Co., mid 20th C.

Wooden box with three white metal levelling feet and hinged lid containing moving coil reflecting and pointing dynamometer. Lamp and mirror system fitted at rear of box, reflecting spot onto perspex scale at front, which is visible through glass window in box. Scale divided 8 - 0 - 9 numbered by 1 graduated to 0.1; also marked ‘HIGH’ and ‘LOW’ (later additions ?). Needle visible through window in front of dynamometer. Dynamometer is topped by a horizontal wheel, divided 0 - [500] numbered by 10 graduated to 1. This is moved by a gearing and pulley operated mechanism adjusted from outside by a plastic knob. Two pairs of terminals on base of dynamometer, one marked ‘FIXED’ and the other ‘MOVING’ . Bubble level also on stand. Rear of box has two pairs of terminals, one for the lamp and the other for the dynamometer.
