Description Notes

Brass microscope. Claw foot. Two uprights massively constructed limb tail. Tail piece with swinging plano/concave mirror. Stage with racked circular base with knurled screw for rotation. Rectangular super stage section with knurled screw operating forward motion. sliding bar. spring clips. Fittings for forceps. Substage on a racked dovetailed shoe with central socket with rack and knurled screw facilitating full rotation, and clamp. Racked rectangular limb and fine focus screw graduated 0-28 by 7 on top of bar limb. Coarse focus by 2 screws either side of limb. Screw fit body. Push fit prism in tray slides into nose. Fitted wooden box. Binocular body signed ‘WENHAM’s BINOCULAR/ by Ross, LONDON’. Rack focussing. Substage condenser and stop. Substage condenser with rotating stops and iris diaphragm. 8 eyepieces, 2 ‘B’, 1 each ‘C’ ‘D’ ‘E’ ‘F’, 2 ‘C’ signed ‘KELLNER’S ORTHOSCOPIC/ROSS, LONDON’. Stage forceps, 5 objectives cases, 4 objectives, 3 signed and dated 1854, 1” 1/2” 1/4” 1/8”. Camera lucida, plus a large number of stops, slide trays, substage attachments, fish plate, rotating stops and dark ground. Polarising apparatus including box of retarding films in brass mounts.
