Description Notes

Transparent yellow celluloid rectangle carrying series of 10 scales marked in yards for a ratio of 2 inches to 1 mile and divided 1000 - 6000 numbered by 1000 subdivided to 100 (the uppermost scale is divided [0] - 6000). Near the bottom left corner is attached a thread which moves over a degree scale marked [0] - 90 numbered by 10 subdivided to 1. On the bottom edge is a scale marked in yards for a ratio of 1:20000 divided 0 - 4000 numbered by 1000 subdivided to 50. Scale of ‘feet’ marked down right hand edge in 1000s from 9000 to 0. Grid at lefthand edge marked ‘1/20000 yards’ and divided into 100 squares, numbered 2, 4, 6, 8 on two sides.
