Description Notes

Rectangular cardboard protractor pattern.
Obverse: degree scale on three edges divided [0] - [180] and [180] - [360], numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚. Fourth edge carries scale of inches divided [1] - 0 - 4, numbered by 1, first inch subdivided to 1/10. Centre is marked with scales for calculating distances (as marked on a map) travelled by infantry and cavalry, for various different scale maps.
Reverse: various map scales for different ratios. Also table for converting miles to yards.
A few manuscript additions.
Contained in envelope stamped with name and address of firm.
