Description Notes

Rectangular celluloid graticule and protractor.
Degree scale around two edges divided [0] - [90˚] in both directions, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚. 30˚/60˚ lines are marked ‘4 o’clock’ and ‘5 o’clock’. Top edge has map scale for 1 inch to 1 mile, divided [0] - [9400] yards, numbered by 1000 (except 5000), subdivided to 100; this scale also marked ‘double reading for 1/2 inch to 1 mile’. Central scale for visual determination of angular separation of distant objects, named ‘degrees when held 19 1/2 inches from eye’, divided 1˚ - 16˚, numbered by 1˚.
