Description Notes
Black-painted finish to microscope and brass fittings. Kettledrum tripod foot, cork shod. Tailpiece with swinging plano-concave mirror and substage condenser with lateral and longitudinal adjustment; vertical movement of substage operated by knurled brass screw. Square mechanical stage with large central aperture; lateral and longitudinal adjustments screw-operated; lateral scale divided 0 - 50, numbered by 10, subdivided to 1; longitudinal scale divided 70 - [105], numbered by 10, subdivided to 1; verniers read to 0.1 on each scale. Ratchet coarse focussing mechanism with double pinion adjustment. Fine focus knob on top of limb. Binocular eyepiece with lateral adjustment operated by knurled screw. Right eyepiece is compensating. Two push-fit eyepieces in place. Three-objective rotating nosepiece with one objective by Baker and two by Watson.
Fitted wooden case with brass hinges, carrying handle and lock; steel key. Case contains objective by Watson in brass case with screw-fit lid, another case for objective, one spare substage condenser, one condenser mount, one spare eyepiece, one eyepiece mask, and spare central column for microscope. Registration card in door with guarantee on reverse (registration not filled in).
Condition generally good but unacceptable corrosion on body, box has large crack on door; complete.
