Description Notes
Set of drawing instruments, by William Elliott, c. 1840.
Black shagreen clip case with four instruments and 3 attachments.
1. Ivory six inch plain scale with bevelled edges; recto divided as a protractor [0] - [180] and [180] - [0]. Scale of ‘CHO’ (chords) [0] - 90 and scales of inches and equal parts for 7/8, 3/4, 5/8, 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 and 1/8. Verso divided with diagonal scale for 1/4 and 1/2 inch to 1/100s and scale of equal parts for 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60 parts to the inch.
2. Brass dividers with brass and steel long joint and inset steel points.
3. Brass dividers with brass and steel long joint and inset steel point, detachable steel point with alternative hinged brass pencil point and brass, hinged ink bows with steel tip.
4. Pair of ink bows; ivory handle; brass shaft; steel tips (ivory handle loose; 2-2-2000).
