Description Notes

Brass with black paint; brass and chrome fitting; arched horseshoe foot; tubular column supporting square mechanical stage and substage condenser; swinging mirror mount (mirror missing); tubular optic body with rotating object carrier; rack & pinion focus; push fit eye piece.

Description
Swift and son were one of the leading microscope manufacturers at the beginning of the 20th century. This instrument was their ‘student’ model, bought by the University of Cambridge’s Department of Pathology shortly before the First World War.
