Description
Edward H. Linfoot was a mathematician known for his work on optics. From 1948 to 1970, he was Assistant Director of the Cambridge Observatory, where he worked on aspheric optics. He applied the therory of aspheric lenses and the Schmidt principle to make these experimental microscopes, which were exhibited at the 1939 Annual Exhibition of the Physical Society.
