Achromatic compound microscope, wenham binocular type, by Negretti and Zambra, c. 1870.
Brass; claw foot; pair of uprights to a pivoting limb; square mechanical stage with clips; dove tail shoe substage screwed to limb; tail piece with swinging plano/concave mirror; knurled brass screws either side of limb for coarse focus; racked triangular column; bar limb with clamp; knurled fine focus screw; binocular body; racked draw tubes with 2 knurled screws; 4 push fit eyepieces; slot in nose piece for image splitting prism; 1 in 2 in & 1/4 in screw fit objectives; boxes ; Polariser; rotating diaphragm; analyser; brass case ; glass slide support; stage forceps; live box; brass slide; brass caps for eyepieces. Glass fronted fitted wooden box.
