Description Notes
Steel beam and fittings; box beam-ends with finial; self-locating steel knife edge and ring bearing. Index above; steel gallows with ring bearing and double aperture below. Suspension ring and tassel. Two circular brass pans with engraved concentric circles; suspension cords bound at hook with gold thread.
Wooden case with green velvet and silk lining and covered with black shagreen. Paper label under lid. Circular slots for two cylindrical weights with turned handles stamped with denominations - 2dwt. 16gr. and 5dwt. 8gr. Slot with hinged lid and tassel for fractional weights (none extant). (One square weight in slot; stamped ‘D G 2 16’; 25-1-2000).
Condition: fair; incomplete (fractional weights missing).
