Description Notes

Pendulum apparatus for investigating variations in gravity. Black-painted, metal alloy box. Lid with glazed aperture and 2 handles lifts off to reveal chamber (2 compartments) and agate bearings for 2 pendulums. Screw and lever for raising and lowering pendulums onto bearings. Linked levers for starting and stopping pendulums. One tap for pumping out air ( a second one is plugged). Removable manometer which, when in place, can be seen through a glazed aperture. Two lenses on top used for photographic recording of swings. Prism unit for same. Two levels, one with hanging weight. Two sets of 3 invar pendulums in fitted wooden boxes. Two copies of photographic traces and one pro-forma calculation dated 1963 (in file).
