Description Notes

Brass beam and fittings; swan’s neck beam ends; self-locating steel knife edge and ring bearing. Brass index with pierced base; brass gallows with ring bearing with suspension ring and tassel. One circular brass pan stamped ‘D’. One triangular brass pan stamped ‘B’. Both suspended on green cords.
Fitted wooden box with slots for 24 weights all stamped with symbol for denomination and maker’s mark. Slot for fractional weights (lid and weights missing). Hook fastenings.
Paper label on lid with symbols for all the weights showing their position in box.

Condition: good/fair; incomplete (fractional weights missing; part from beneath gallows missing??; 25-1-2000).
