Description Notes
Unequal arm with weight type. Mahogany box; brass scales. Beam graduated 1 - [4.5] , numbered by 1, subdivided to 12 where each division equals 6 grains or 1 French franc. Doubled on opposite side. Sliding weight with spring clip. Steel knife edge bearing. ‘U’ shaped hanger with upward curved coin plate, facing out from box lid. Single piece column; thin link; single piece rest. Hinged to base plate in box. Erected manually. Mahogany box with hook fastening. Instruction label with weights for 25 European coins pasted inside lid: ‘Table des Monnoies d’Or qui ont cours dans les differents Etats de l’Europe, avec la désignation de leur Poids’; ‘La premiere division indique les gros qui valent chacun 72 grains’; ‘Monnoies d’Or d’Allemagne’.
