Description Notes
Black-painted brass front end of barrel . Central collar rotates to adjust iris aperture; scale for aperture divided 2.3 - 12, numbered irregularly. Second white metal collar rotates to adjust focus of lens, divided 8 -150 feet; with toothed ring (possibly aother focusing mechanism). Slot for alignment when mounting on camera.
(Label with 1617 reads ‘cine camera lenses designed for Gaumont news reel cameras in 1934. manufactured 1934. called up for war service & mounted 1942.’)

Description
Cine camera
This is a camera that takes motion pictures. It is similar in many ways to a normal still camera, with a light-tight compartment for the film, a lens, and a shutter. A cine camera takes a series of photographs in rapid sucession at a steady speed.
The film is moved one frame at a time past an opening through which the film is exposed. The motion is produced by a claw shaped device that slots into perforations on the edge of the film. The film is stationary for a short time as the claw engages further along the film, and this is when that frame is exposed.
