Description Notes

Silver; pierced dial plate hinged from base with inset compass; dial plate calibrated IIII-XII, I-VIII by 1 to 5’. Folding decorated style on decorated base. Hinge area decorated; folding latitude arm 0-60 by 10 to 1o, the latitude arm spring plate decorated. Inset compass in base, decorated 8 point rose with fleur de lis north, and marked for magnetic variation 20-0-20 by 10 to 1o with adjustable index point (compass needle and arresting mechanism not original). Verso of compass box a list of towns and latitudes.
(Two rests on base plate for dial plate; 31-1-2000).

Condition: fair; incomplete (needle a replacement).
