Description Notes

Decorated octagonal brass base, decoration picked out in red; 4 adjustable feet. Inset compass with silvered base, marked with cardinal points and magnetic variation at 15˚W of N. Plumb-bob on gallows. Hour circle segment, divided on inner rim IIII - XII, I - VIII, numbered by I, subdivided to 15 minutes (see history file for notes on inscription). (Folding pin gnomon on diametrical bar; 31-1-2000). Latitude arc divided 20˚ - 70˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 30´ (divided wrongly, over 40˚; 31-1-2000). Reverse of compass box with list of towns and latitudes.
(Wooden case, covered with leather (?), lined in paper; 31-1-2000).
