Description Notes

Turned ivory base supports tapered hexagonal pillar, on one face of which is a round-bulb mercury-in-glass thermometer. Scale divided [14˚F] - 110˚F, numbered by 10˚F, divided to 2˚. Also marked ‘F’, ‘T’, ‘SH’, and ‘BH’. Within turned finial at the apex of the column (screw fit) is set a magnetic dial under a glass dome. Engraved paper dial plate with hour scale divided IIII - XII, I - VIII, numbered by I, divided to 15 minutes. 8-point compass rose and 16 compass points marked.

Condition: good/fair; complete.
