Description Notes

Brass; set on compass box with 3 screw thread levelling feet; silvered 4 point rose; upper scale divided 0-90-0 twice by 10 to 1o (10-0-10 to 1˚, the rest to 2˚; 7-2-2000); folding gallows with plumb-bob; latitude arc divided [45]-90o by 10o to 1o. Hour circle divided IIII-XII, I-VIII by 1 to 5 minutes; folding gnomon; screw clamp at side of hour circle for latitude arc. (Whipple mentions maple wood case, no longer extant).

Condition: fair; incomplete (case missing).
