Description Notes
Circular brass base in the form of a candlestick holding long glass cylinder with vertical scale divided downwards X - XII, I - [VI and 30 minutes], numbered by I, subdivided to 30 minutes. Ground glass top to cylinder would once have held a stopper to prevent evaporation of the oil. At the base of the cylinder is a hole through which a wick may be passed; the outer end of the wick is supported in a brass trough protruding from the top of the stand.
Marked on base of stand: ‘M5943 K/se/- 2.2.0’.
Condition good (some corrosion of base); incomplete (stopper missing).
