Description Notes

Hilger’s ‘Large Quality Spectrograph’, El, ‘Littrow’ form. Slit and camera together at one end. Slit with steel jaws, width adjustable by micrometer screw, drumhead divided 0-100 by 1; sliding height adjustment with 18mm linear scale; on draw tube with retaining clamp. Slit on camera in metal casing, the rest in long polished wooden box. Far end opens (brass handle) to reveal lens and prism mount (prism missing) on sliding mount; longitudianl motion by worm with metal and ivorine handle and drumhead divided 0-25.; lateral by micrometer screw, divided 0-100 with linear scale of 25mm. Camera. Mount for plate hinged at one side, with bellows, rack and pinion motion by knurled screw with scale viewed through aperture and clamp. Plate has vertical motion by rack and pinion with 100mm ivorine scale. Plate retained by 2 brass arms. The whole on cast base and 3 legs with separate feet.
