Description Notes

Instrument for drawing curves, devised c.1822 for use in architectural drawings. One ebony bar connected to a second by 2 small bars with brass hinges and runners so that all 4 can turn and slide. Another bar with a sliding pencil holder can rotate under the 2nd bar. Scales of ivory are graduated in inches and inlaid into the bars which are supported on 2 weighted pillars.
Fitted mahogany box.

Condition good; complete.
