perspectograph, by Gavard, 1850 (c)
Two circular brass pillars joined by steel bar. One end mounted on wheels with deep ‘V’ which locate on brass rail for horizontal motion; pillar has circular and vertical motion. Window sight with cross hairs linked by strings to pulleys at top and bottom of pillar and to pencil point mounted on steel bar; raising facility on pencil. Second string to other pillar and pinhole sight. Pillar mounted on brass wheel.
