Description Notes

Chemical balance with scale illuminated by electric light. Black-painted beam with agate centre knife and end knives. Five different riders on RHS which are adjusted by a bakelite knob on the outside of the case, which is divided 0 - 0.9 grams, numbered by 0.1. White metal balance pans. White metal indicator moves over horizontal bar. The image is reflected up to a viewer where it is superimposed on an illuminated scale. The viewer can be adjusted by a knurled screw on the outside of the case.
Black glass base with bubble level and arrestment mechanism for pans (padded with cloth and operated by a knurled screw from the front of the instrument).
Glazed wooden case with hinged doors on sides and sliding front panel (one of the strings is broken). One fixed foot and two levelling screws at the front. Electric parts are encased in a black box underneath the base of the case.

Contains Oertling servicing ticket - this names thetype of insturment as ‘Towers “A” no. 6678’.

Condition good; complete.
