Description Notes

Circular decorated brass case hinges open to reveal compass in lid and dial in base; carrying ring on lid. Glazed compass with blued steel needle on brass mount; cardinal points marked on base, and 12 Chinese hours marked around the outside. Scaphe dial with central pin gnomon and Japanese unequal hours marked across the diameter; simple decoration around the edge.

Condition good; complete.
