Description Notes

Black-painted cast iron tripod base with two brass levelling screws with knurled heads. White shaft to which is clamped a horizontal arm ending in a short pillar; set on top of the pillar is a black-painted metal disc, whose height can be adjusted by a knurled brass screw at the base of the pillar. At the top of the central pillar is a black-painted metal bar which carries a clamp with worm-gear and knurled brass screw at each end. Stretched between the clamps is a torsion wire, which carries the support for a wire arm. One of the gearing mechanisms is attached to a large disc with a scale divided 0 - [110] dynes/cm, numbered by 10, subdivided to 1, with vernier reading to 0.1.

Condition fair; incomplete (tension testing arm missing.
