Description Notes
Wooden case with brass hinges and lock (no key); steel hook fasteners; leather handle (broken). Contains black-painted plate which conceals workings of indicator. Perspex window with needle moving over scale marked ‘degrees fahrenheit’ and divided 40 - 55, numbered by 5, subdivided to 0.2; also marked at the ends ‘off’ and ‘test’. Black plastic dial with scale divided 30 - 100, numbered by 10, subdivided to 1 and switch which can be set to ‘off’, ‘test’, ‘temp’ and ‘hum’. Zero adjustment knob and rehostat adjustment knob. Three pairs of white metal terminals, one marked ‘batt’; the other two pairs marked ‘thermometers’ and ‘dry’ and ‘wet’. Battery terminals are connected to pair of batteries in lid of box, covered with hinged wooden lid; pull switch with ivorine plaque marked ‘pull out to switch on battery’.
