Botanical wallchart. Cystoseira: life history and habit. Maker Dodel-Port.

Colour printed botanical teaching diagram of Cystoseira barbata, a seaweed of the Black Sea. The wallchart depicts this seaweeds life cycle in 7 seperate diagrams, numbered 1 - 7. Diagram 1 depicts the entire plant whilst figure 2 shows a close-up view of a single section of the plant. Figures 3 - 7 chart the reproductive development of the plant at the systematic and cellular level.

The paper has been backed onto cloth.

Good/fair condition.

Description
Swiss husband and wife team Arnold and Carolina Dodel-Port created this illustration for their Dodel-Port Atlas, an atlas of botany for school students. Both botanists (Arnold at the University of Zurich), together they made many new discoveries about the plants they were studying. They wrote to Charles Darwin, who said that Carolina’s drawings showed information about plants in a 'wonderfully clear manner'.
