Botanical wallchart showing capsule of the moss species Dawsonia polytrichoides (Order: Polytrichales).
One diagram in colour.
Inscription is stencilled at top left. Ink inscription at bottom left, apparently in Henslow’s handwriting, reads “Dawsonia polytrichoides” A second line is largely obscured but “R.B” “Li” “ns” and “23” can just be made out. (Possibly a reference to the first publication of this species, by Robert Brown, Transactions of the Linnean Society of London 10: 316. 1811.)
