Botanical wallchart showing capsule of the moss genus Tetraphis (order: Tetraphidales), showing the characteristic peristome, with only four setae (teeth) diagnostic of this order.
One diagram in colour.
Inscription is stencilled at top left. Ink inscription at bottom left reads “Tetraptus Browniana. Grev. Cryp.3.t1bg” (Possibly a reference to volume 3 of Robert Kaye Greville’s 6 volume Flora Edinensis; or, a description of plants growing near Edinburgh, arranged according to the Linnaean system: with a concise introduction to the natural orders of the class Cryptogamia, and illustrative plates.)
