Caldwell automatic microtome (aka Caldwell-Threlfall microtome), by the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company, English, 1883.

Cast iron frame with red painted finish; large steel wheel with cranked handle; shaft to pulley system which moves a horizontal carriage backwards and forwards across a fixed knife (missing).
