Description Notes
Brass chemical balance. Central column support with ivory zero scale. Brass cross piece for guiding raising bar, which acts on 4 adjustable steel screws in 2 short transverse bars attached to openwork diamond-shaped beam. Beam has central steel knife edge acting on agate plane, pointer and adjustable counterweight above. Steel extension pieces attached by screws to either end of beam carry steel hooks from which are suspended brass pans. Wooden (pine?) glazed case with 2 doors, brass knob for beam release, with screw-fit brass cover. 4 brass levelling screws.
