Description Notes

Black-painted rectangular cast iron base set on 4 cork feet. At one end of the base is mounted a black-painted metal pillar which supports the rotatable reading microscope. Microscope has white metal body with screw-in objective and pushfit eyepiece with micrometer with scale divided 0 - 10mm, numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.1. At the other end of the base is a plane illuminating mirror in white metal mount with ball joint to white metal arm with ball joint to white metal pillar on base plate. Positioned between the mirror and reading microscope is a vertical black-painted metal box containing the fibre, which can be viewed through a central small glazed window. Down one side of the fibre case are three terminals, one pair marked ‘MAX VOLTS 200’, the other marked ‘E’ for earth; also two brass screws for holding the case together (case can be dismantled in order to change the fibre).
