Description Notes

Rectangular wooden base with four feet, supporting rectangular cast iron base plate, on which is mounted a metal lantern box with oval chimney on top. The back of the lantern is covered by a black velvet cloth with central slit. Doors on both sides of the lantern, hinged and with brass covers to observation windows (one without glass, one with). Front of lantern carries a converging lens with diaphragm mount which can be set to five different positions.
Within the lantern is the arc lamp itself, with the mechanism for creating the light, central to which is a graphite bar.
